I Would Recommend it to other Students
Throughout my four weeks spent at Coast Provincial General Hospital, Mombasa doing my elective with Elective Africa, I have had a productive and fulfilling time both academically and socially.
The clinical rotations at the hospital were well negotiated as the program went on allowing a personalized program which catered to my learning goals. Being able to see how medicine is practiced in a setting different from my home country was a worthwhile experience. The opportunity to practice hands-on medicine under supervision and guidance was a highlight of the program for me.
The accommodation was spacious, food was freshly cooked on a daily basis and all utilities were present. Having contacts at Elective Africa was very helpful as it allowed quick help and advice to be at hand when needed.
The program includes a whole range of social activities that participants may choose to do including a safari, scuba diving, visiting schools & orphanages and visiting archaeological sites. Having never travelled out of Australia before, I did not know what to expect, however I found the program to be a great experience.
I would recommend it to students considering an elective placement abroad.
