Safety and Security

The safety and security of our program participants is our number one priority, and we do everything we can to ensure you have a safe and secure experience at your program destination and return home safely, and so far we are happy to report that we have never had an incident. We take several precautionary measures for all our program activities:

  • Our program locations are located in very stable regions of the countries we operate in; and even within these selected regions, we locate our programs in very safe neighborhoods. We do not operate any program activities anywhere near any towns designated by any government as unstable or not safe
  • We have a caretaker present in our program compounds 24 / 7 and available to address any issues that may arise. The program coordinator is easily reachable and is often around the program participants on a daily basis, without getting in their way. Our compounds are secured with fences and patrolled continuously by a security guard. These are measures we have taken just out of an abundance of caution and do not necessarily reflect our assessment of the security risk
  • When students arrive, we go through an orientation, first through a discussion and then practically through taking them around the neighborhood. This orientation is meant to familiarize the students and get them comfortable with the surroundings prior to commencing their program
  • Transfer to and from the airport, depending on the airport of arrival, are included as part of the program. Once you book your flight, we ask that you provide us with your flights details as soon as possible. Our representative will be waiting for you at the airport when you arrive for your program. And when you have completed your program, we will take you back to the airport for your departure flight
  • All participants are requested to enter their emergency contact details online in their myElective account. This is the information we will use in case of an emergency
  • While we put in place a lot of measures to ensure your safety and security, there is no replacement for the best safety and security measure – common sense precautions. Our programs are located in safe and stable areas where common sense precautions are really the most important safety precaution
  • We also encourage all prospective participants to get in touch with our past program participants to get a sense of their perspective on safety and security, since past participants can give a firsthand, third party account of their experience and perspective during their time in our programs.
