A Transformative Experience in Kenya

“This was my first time coming to Africa. This program has been a great balance between shadowing at Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital and a better understanding the Kenyan healthcare system. The staff at Elective Africa have always made me feel welcome and safe. They are very open to working with your wants and needs, and they truly want each participant to have a phenomenal experience. We were able to work with them to not only tour and explore Mombasa, but also to travel to Malindi, Hell's Kitchen, and even Diani. They are so kind and friendly and treat you like you are one of their children. The hardworking staff who have made this trip so smooth and fun. Shadowing in Coast General brings new excitement and. opportunities every day. Most doctors and nurses are happy to answer questions, help you learn, and even let you assist. I have seen cases here that I will never be able to see in the United States, which has been very interesting. My favorite place to learn was the operating room. I was able to stand right beside the table and watch so many life-changing surgeries. It was truly an inspiration!!”
