Visiting Mombasa with Elective Africa was one of the Most Spontaneous Yet Best Decisions I have Ever Made

Coming to learn and visit Mombasa with Elective Africa was one of the most spontaneous but best decisions I have ever made. Not only did I learn so much at the hospital, dive into incredible mentors willing to answer all my questions and include me in discussions but I learned so much about the people and the culture of Mombasa Kenya. I tried Swahili food, learned some Swahili, met many locals and Kenyan natives, learned the history of the area, and explored the beautiful city and beaches. 

My life has been completely changed for the better because of my experience here. With participants from so many different backgrounds, I have learned not only the perspectives of healthcare and life in general from locals but also from friends I spent every moment here with from all over the world. 

I will forever be grateful for the opportunity Elective Africa gave me here in Mombasa. I know I have been changed for the better and have grown in so many ways. I didn’t want to leave and go home, but I am glad to be bringing all I learned and loved in Kenya back to friends and family at home. Asante Sana for some of the greatest weeks of my life.
