It is gradual and steady therefore making it less painful on the trek. It also offers a shorter acclimatization period. This route is also known as the coca cola route as its accommodation is in the huts, which also serves beverages. The trek begins in the south east of the mountain at Marangu gate & the descent takes the same route. It has the best trail in the rain forest combined with and great views of the Mawenzi.
